I am 13 weeks and still no ultrasound? Is that normal? I am so worried?

I am 13 weeks now and only have my blood test and PAP done at 9.5 weeks. Asked the doctor and he said he’ll try to find me an Ob at credit valley hospital around 24 weeks. I asked when will I get the first ultrasound but he said 16 weeks the first time, and changed to 20 weeks now.

This is my first baby as well. If something came back on the blood test and Pap, then they would have sent you for an ultrasound (if they saw a problem). Many OB’s don’t give an ultrasound until you are 16-20 weeks.

I had my Pap and blood work around the same time you did. I am going for my first ultrasound on June 2 – where I will be 20 weeks.

However, every month I have heard the heartbeat and nothing seemed out of the ordinary, so they didn’t call for any extra ultrasounds.

Some ultrasounds are given for certain tests – like the amnio, etc. before 20 weeks.

Don’t worry If you feel something is wrong or if you OB finds something wrong, they will send you for an ultrasound. For now, relax and enjoy being pregnant!

But don’t be afraid to ask questions with your doctor — if you don’t feel comfortable with the doctor – get a new one soon. You are going to be with this doctor for 9 months and have to feel comfortable with them.
